Alfredo J. Lowe, Ph.D., ABPP, FAACP, LCADC

About the Practice

I am a Board-Certified, Licensed Clinical Psychologist in New Jersey, New York, and North Carolina and am the owner of Psychotherapeutic Solutions, LLC in Livingston, NJ. I received my doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University in 2002 after having completed my pre-doctoral internship at Trinitas Hospital. I received a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology from Montclair State University in 1996. I have also been a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) in New Jersey since 2009.

The majority of my caseload consists of individuals and families diagnosed with anxiety and mood disorders, bereavement and adjustment issues, and challenges managing stress. I also have clinical experience working with children and families managing Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. My background includes employment as a Psychologist at the New Jersey City University Counseling Center, Children's Specialized Hospital as a pediatric psychologist, as a clinician at a high school for emotionally-disabled adolescents, as a mental health screener in the Trinitas Hospital Psychiatric Emergency Room, and as a therapist in a variety of substance abuse treatment settings.

My clinical style is varied, with the focus on helping individuals develop their strengths and recognize that they have the ability to overcome their struggles. I believe it is important to provide guidance and support and to help individuals recognize how their thoughts and behaviors may interfere with personal satisfaction. When working with children and adolescents, I prefer to work collaboratively with families and outside agencies in order to develop specific goals that address the presenting problem/s. I feel that it is important to work both individually with children and teens in order to address their specific needs and with their family members as, often times, problems exist within the family system. I am also in contact with additional agencies, professionals, and settings (i.e., school), when clinically appropriate, in order to coordinate treatment and supportive services. The ultimate goal of treatment is to improve an individual's and family's level of functioning and quality of life.
